Meet Tim Burgiss D.D.S.

Dr. Tim Burgiss obtained his undergraduate degree (BA, Chemistry) from the University of North Carolina in 1981. He graduated from UNC’s School of Dentistry in 1985, and has been in practice in Union Grove these past 35 years. Dr. Burgiss has spent over 950 hours in continuing education. He has studied extensively at the prestigious Pankey Institute (200 hours) in Florida, at the Center for Professional Development in Arizona, and has studied with Gordon Christiansen in Utah. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, Foothills Dental Continuum Study Club, and is a Fellow in the International Academy of Dentistry. Dr. Burgiss is also on staff at the dental school at UNC-Chapel Hill as adjunct associate professor in the department of Operative Dentistry and teaches at the school about once per month. His practice focus is on cosmetics (smile enhancement), restorative dentistry, and implants.

Dr Burgiss was raised in the mountains of North Carolina in Laurel Springs and continues the family lineage of health care providers. He lives in Statesville with his wife, Debbie. His oldest daughter, Drew (UNC graduate) is married to Wilson Yang and resides in Toronto, Canada, where he is the owner/operator of a Chick-Fil-A franchise. His youngest daughter, Ali (UNC graduate) is married to Tyler Lewis and they currently reside in Burlington, NC. Tyler is the Director in Basketball Operations at Elon University and Ali is the marketing director at a Chick-Fil-A in Mebane.

Dr. Burgiss is an active member of Western Avenue Baptist Church in Statesville. Dr. Burgiss has been involved with dental missions at the Open Door Clinic, the NC Mission of Mercy, and has been on mission trips to Russia, Venezuela, and Belize. Some of his special interests include bird hunting, tennis, travel, snow skiing, and all sports (especially Carolina basketball).
